Find answers to common questions about newborn care and Travel Baby Guru services
What areas do you serve?
I’m based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and travel internationally for short-term, long-term, and fill-in contracts. My services are available worldwide, and I have extensive experience working across different countries and cultures.
How far in advance should I book your services?
For optimal availability, I recommend booking 3-6 months in advance for newborn care services, especially if you’re looking for support during peak times (summer months or holidays). For emergency or last-minute needs, please reach out directly, as I occasionally have short-notice availability
What's the difference between a Newborn Care Specialist and a baby nurse or nanny?
As a Certified Newborn Care Specialist, I bring specialized training and expertise focused specifically on newborn development, sleep, feeding, and family adjustment. Unlike general childcare providers, my role includes not just hands-on care but also parent education, routine development, and specialized support for the fourth trimester transition.
What Do I Look for in Homes?
Proin gravida nibh vel velit auctor aliquet. Aenean sollicitudin, lorem quis bibendum auctor, nisi elit consequat ipsum, nec sagittis sem nibh id elit. Duis sed odio sit amet nibh vulputate cursus.
How do you handle different parenting philosophies?
My approach is always to honor your family’s values and preferences. During our initial consultation, I’ll learn about your parenting philosophy and adapt my support accordingly. My foundation is in respectful, responsive care that recognizes each baby as an individual while providing the structure and consistency that helps babies thrive.
What safety protocols do you follow?
Safety is my top priority. I maintain current certifications in Infant CPR and First Aid, follow all AAP safety guidelines for sleep and feeding, and am Trustline certified. For travel assignments, I research destination-specific health information and ensure access to medical resources.
Do you work with other household staff?
I have extensive experience integrating seamlessly into staffed households. I collaborate respectfully with existing nannies, housekeepers, chefs, and other staff while maintaining clear communication and role boundaries. My goal is always to enhance the household’s functioning while providing specialized newborn support.
How do you handle nighttime care and feeding?
For overnight support, I can either manage all nighttime feedings (bottle) or bring baby to parents for nursing and handle all other aspects of care (diapering, soothing, settling). My approach is to maximize parental rest while honoring your feeding preferences and baby’s needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Cancellations made 30+ days prior to the service start date: Full refund minus the non-refundable retainer.
- Cancellations made 15–29 days prior to the service start date: 50% Payment of contract minus the non-refundable retainer.

How do you approach sleep training?
Rather than traditional “sleep training,” I focus on sleep shaping—establishing healthy sleep foundations through consistent routines, appropriate wake windows, and responsive settling techniques. This gentle approach works with your baby’s natural development while gradually building independent sleep skills.
Once your child is 4+ months old, we can gently guide them toward more independent sleep if you choose. I believe in honoring a baby’s emotions during this process; allowing low-to-medium levels of crying as a natural way for them to express themselves, work through frustration, and build resilience.
Rather than rushing to fix every sound or protest, I focus on responsive support: listening carefully, offering comfort when needed, and giving your baby the space to practice new skills in a safe, loving environment. Sleep shaping isn’t about silencing cries; it’s about creating a consistent, nurturing space where confidence, trust, and restful sleep can grow.
